Ephemeral

photo collage by me.

been getting some positive feedback on this type of image so i've been playing, creating, tweaking and seeing where it takes me.

this image is perhaps a reflection of the mood i'm in. i've been practicing acceptance that all things are ephemeral, so i should enjoy the moments i have NOW for the only constant in this life is change.

Like a Thief in the Twilight!

The chimney climbing technique is used here to great effect in a narrow Spanish alleyway in Conil. The light and shadows make M appear to be leaping in mid air, like a thief in the twilight!

Feeling left out in the rain

A photo to reflect my melancholy mood today... I took this photo in the rain in Cadiz near the Balneario de la Palma on Playa de la Caleta.

They might be giants

They might not be properly called windmills but they are giants.. giant wind turbines to be exact. While we were on our coastal jaunt of Cadiz province, we drove through one of Andalusia's wind farms or parques eólicos. These magnificent giants dot the skyline with their imposing sleek beauty. And I couldn't help but wonder what Don Quixote would have made of these giants.

All photos taken by me.

Spain is one of the three world’s largest users of wind power. In 2007, wind farms accounted for almost 10% of the electricity generated in Spain. [source wiki]

A Civil War Bunker on the Beach

Christmas day happened to be a rare windless day in Conil so we took a long walk along the beach from Playa los Bateles north towards Playa El Roqueo. Here we were pleasantly surprised to find a stone bunker from the 1936 Spanish Civil War.

View from the inside...

All these photos were taken by me.

Conil de la Frontera has around 19,000 inhabitants and six beaches: Playa La Fontanilla, Playa El Roqueo (location of the 1936 Civil War bunker seen above), Playa Fuente del Gallo, Playa Punta Lejos, Playa Cala Del Aceite and Playa los Bateles. Playa los Bateles, the beach which we overlooked from our holiday apartment, is the longest and the most popular in the summer.

For more photos from this beautiful paradise, stay tuned.

Fishermen of Conil de la Frontera

We spent Christmas week in the picturesque white fishing village of Conil de la Frontera in Cadiz province's La Janda county in the southwest of Spain.

All these photos were taken by me.

This charming seaside town gets its name (some experts claim) from an Arab term meaning "place of pleasure." The spectacular and unspoiled natural beauty of this area in the Costa de la Luz makes it one of the finest jewels of Andalusia.

In my next post, I'll show you more stunning vistas from this area so stayed tuned.
